climbing - winter ice and alpine routes

From late autumn through to spring there are good cascades, mixed routes and alpine routes of all grades, accessibility and length.  The guidebook for the local French-speaking part of Switzerland lists 340 icefalls, and there are many more established climbs in nearby areas such as Kandersteg, Arolla, and Saas.

Programme

We offer courses for everyone from beginners to advanced with options for two or five-days of climbing.  We start around Leysin on local ice and mixed climbs, then move to wherever the conditions and weather offers the best climbing.  Because of the small groups we tailor each course to your needs and interests (e.g. pure ice, mixed and alpine).  When making your enquiry or booking please say if you have used snowshoes or if you can ski.

Day 1  Meet in Leysin at 7pm for a briefing on the conditions, weather and final programme.  Night in Leysin.

Days 2-3  Ice and or mixed climbing in or near to Leysin.  Depart, or:

Days 4-6  Ice, mixed or alpine climbing at venues determined by the weather and conditions.  At the end of day 6 return to Leysin.

Day 7  Depart.

Our climbing courses are 1 or 2 climbers with 1 guide.
